Gateshead vs Hartlepool United

It has been a long time since I’ve done an away game with Hartlepool, but I agreed to do this one as soon as it was rearranged for tonight. I used to regularly do Gateshead away with Pools when it was on Boxing Day, but the fixture list has been different in the last couple of years.

I know I’ve said it before, but Gateshead International Stadium is simply an awful place to watch football. The only slight positive is that there is plenty of leg room in the away end (East Stand), but it wasn’t useful tonight when everyone was standing.

Pools took the lead through Joe Grey, but Gateshead equalised through Luke Hannant. Gateshead were the better side for the remainder of the first half, and they were absolutely on top in the second half thumping six goals past Pools. It wasn’t a happy away end.
